Chicago Fashion Week

“Gillion Carrara (@gillioncarrara), artist and jewelry designer, will host SEAMLESS, a six-part virtual lecture series that falls just before and through Chicago Fashion Week, that explores the deep links between fashion, design, art, and culture.

Gillion is the founding director of the Fashion Resource Center at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and co-author of Fashion Icons, a bold, illustrated tribute to legendary designers created alongside artist David Lee Csicsko (@csicskokid). Her work centers on storytelling through materials — horn, shell, wood, metal — and how we communicate identity through statement pieces.

Starting this fall, SEAMLESS offers weekly Thursday Zoom lectures from 1:00 to 2:30 PM, along with curated resources and on-demand access to all sessions:

  • Sept 18 – Dior: Volume Control

  • Sept 25 – Man Ray: The Dadaists + Fashion Photography

  • Oct 2 – Madeleine Vionnet: Elegant Discourse

  • Oct 9 – Physical Graffiti: Words in Fashion

  • Oct 16 – New Materials

  • Oct 23 – Exhibiting Fashion

Register at the link in her bio by August 18 to receive a signed copy of Fashion Icons. Spots are limited and a fee is required.

What’s your favorite statement piece — the one you always get asked about?”
